Figure 1. A Comprehensive Framework for Marriage Education (back)

Figure 1 presents a diagram of a comprehensive framework for marriage education. It consists of a cube in the center, and outlining the cube is a diamond. Inside the diamond are three elements: intensity (e.g., high, moderate, and low); content (e.g., relational skills, knowledge/attitudes, and motivation/virtues); and methods (e.g., maintenance, learning styles, and instructor).

The four sides of the diamond are labeled timing, target, setting, and delivery. Timing consists of early adulthood, premarital, early marital, early parental, mid parental, late parental, and post parental. It also includes cohabitating, divorced, and remarried. Target consists of all socio-economic levels, all racial-ethnic groups, and urban and rural couples. The setting is comprised of personal/home, community, religion, education, healthcare, work/military, mass media, and government. Finally, the delivery includes specialist education, integrated education, citizen initiatives, and cultural seeding.
